About RuthAnne

Hello and welcome! I’m RuthAnne Alexander, founder and Clinical Director of Alexander Counseling Center. I began ACC with the goal of providing excellent, compassionate mental health care in our community. Today, that vision has grown into a collaborative group practice serving clients throughout Southern Oregon and across the state through both in-person and telehealth services.

I earned my Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Southern Oregon University in 2011. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oregon, a National Certified Counselor, and a board-approved clinical supervisor for registered associates pursuing LPC and LMFT licensure.

My professional roots are deeply connected to Southern Oregon. During my graduate training, I completed my internship at the VA Southern Oregon Rehabilitation Center and Clinics in White City, where I provided therapy to Veterans experiencing PTSD, anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns. Before beginning my counseling career, I mentored local teens through Phoenix High School and The Rose Circle and volunteered with HOPE Equestrian Center. From 2011 to 2016, I also taught undergraduate psychology courses at Southern Oregon University.

I opened my private practice in White City in 2011, initially providing therapy to adults experiencing trauma and PTSD, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, relationship concerns, life transitions, and barriers to personal growth. That clinical experience—and the privilege of walking alongside clients through meaningful change—continues to shape how I lead Alexander Counseling Center today.

As Clinical Director, I provide clinical supervision, consultation, and mentorship to developing therapists while helping established clinicians continue to strengthen their skills. I oversee clinical quality and practice operations, support thoughtful and ethical decision-making, and work to ensure that our therapists have the guidance and resources they need to provide excellent care.

I am also focused on the continued development of Alexander Counseling Center: identifying unmet needs in our community, expanding specialized services, and developing new programs and treatment offerings. This includes growing our therapy groups, expanding neurofeedback services, strengthening training opportunities, and helping new clinicians develop into confident, capable, and compassionate therapists.

Although my role has evolved from primarily providing therapy to leading and developing the practice, the purpose behind my work remains the same: to create a place where clients feel genuinely supported, therapists are equipped to do their best work, and our community has access to high-quality, evidence-informed mental health care.
